For week ending 11-Feb-12
Jim Golden was a neighbor of ours. He fought in WWII and was an avid coin collector. When we first moved into our house, he introduced himself, and we liked him immediately. From then on, if I was working on the yard, he'd come down, and we'd talk for a while. He told the best jokes. He knew everything about the neighborhood - who was doing what, to who, and when. I really enjoyed the time he spent with me, and I truly believe American's greatest generation fought WWII based upon my friendship with Jim.
Sadly, he passed away a couple of years ago. At his funeral, his nephews all told stories of Jim - all were funny. I would have loved to have been one of his nephews based upon those stories they told. Jim was quite a character.
Anyways, he came to my house one day and gave me his old Argoflex camera. I don't think it works, but it is fun to look through the viewfinder.
This is a picture of the first daffodils that bloomed in my front year. I used some off camera light to get them to show up better in the viewfinder.
